Running Meditation: Accept or Act

As you begin to prepare for your run, think about every unresolved issue in your life. Be it with a friend, family, member, co-worker or lover. Is it your failure to accept that allows the issue to linger? Some things in life are truths to be accepted rather than problems that need solutions. Simply because some things just are, and there is no other way for them to be.

The madness, depression and resentment is when we fail to ACCEPT. The arguments and especially nagging will ensue if we continue to fix something that is just the way it is. Accept or act, everything else is madness.

As you stretch and prepare for your run, keep that in mind, repeat the mantra in your head or out loud, “Accept or Act.” Inhale acceptance, exhale all the madness you were holding on to when you were reluctant to act.” Janell Hihi

One of my favorite books, The Power of Now, by Eckhart Tolle really awakened me to this concept of accepting or acting. People who constantly complain but FAIL to ACT are in the most pain because they are stuck. There really is only 2 choices, accept or act.

“Accept – Whatever the present moment contains, accept it as if you had chosen it. Always work with it, not against it.

“Act – Any action is often better than no action, especially if you have been stuck in an unhappy situation for a long time. If it is a mistake, at least you learn something, in which case it’s no longer a mistake. If you remain stuck, you learn nothing.”   Eckhart Tolle

As you bring your stretching to a close and begin to take off running, think about all the situations in your life that bring you pain or confusion. Give each situation a judgement call, accept it or act on it. Be clear and be honest with yourself.

Mindful running, Namaste!
